Cathy Jo, IMO= 9419278, grounded thursday off Stevns, DK

A Dutch dry cargo ship of 111 meters is Thursday aground off the Stevns, said Maritime Assistance Service (MAS) under the Defence Operations Centre Ritzau.
"Cathy Jo", as the ship is called, sailed on Thursday morning from Stevns Pier, but because of high winds and power it lost speed and then control, then it ran aground.
The ship is 350 meters from the shore.
On Thursday afternoon, a tug tried to help "Cathy Jo" free of the sandbar, but failed, so now the Dutch shipping company has started to think out a new plan to bring the ship afloat, said MAS.
The ship is stable on the bottom out of Stevns. It lurches not, and the crew is still on board. There are no recorded spills of any kind from the ship, says the MAS.
One can only hope that it succeeds in bringing the ship afloat before this weekend's two storms hit the Danish shores with full force. The first storm hits Friday and the next coming Saturday and lasts until Sunday.

Pictures to be seen here: http://www.marinetraffic.com/en/phot...THY%20JO#32621.....
(Even some taken by Frits Olinga back in the midsummer of 2008;-)....

    NB:
It seems like she is no longer grounded according to the position-data showed on the Marinetraffic now... Hope that is correct and that she got off without any damages to sailors or ships...

    Best wishes to all
    Kind Regards
    Kent
