First Primorsk tankers sail through Northern Sea Route
Two tankers from the Primorsk Shipping Corporation (Prisco) have for the first time sailed through the Northern Sea Route (NSR) from the Barents Strait to Murmansk, Interfax reported, citing the Russian company. The tanker Zaliv Amursky arrived at Antwerp, Belgium, on Oct. 22 to unload diesel fuel delivered via the route. After its first Arctic voyage began Sept. 18, the tanker was also the first Prisco vessel to completely switch to Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS) from traditional paper navigational charts. The second Prisco tanker to make the Arctic voyage, the Zaliv Baikal, is expected to reach the Korean port of Yosu Nov. 12.
