Britannia Seaways on fire in the North Atlantic

Britannia Seaways is on fire right now....
There is a fire on the top deck. Crew is fighting it....
There is quite a hard weather up there now, but the Crew will try to control the fire during the night while they try to reach in to port in Bergen, Norway tomorrow morning.
In the very beginning the capten ordered a helicopter awak of the passengers but that is given up for the Moment due to a hard wind and rough/tough seas... I would be too dangerous for both passengers, Crew and heli-crew....
So Status right now is that she tries to control the fire and reach the coast....

She has reached sheltered waters inside the norwegian islands

Yes I can see three navy-and one or two tugs around her while they are crusing in leeward-side of the Islands in a strange sailing-pattern....
It?s not that strange that the Military are out aiding her with firefighting capabilities.... Her cargo is a lot of Military Equipment... if that stuff has caught fire i don?t know but I can imagine that they don?t want letting Britannia Seaways go into Bergen port before they are certain that there is no danger in doing so.
We will see how things develops.... But at least she made it to the shore during the night.... I pray that nobody is hurt or killed on board fighting that fire...

Fire Extinguished on Cargo Ship off Norway

A fire aboard a cargo ship carrying armored vehicles and other military
supplies to a military exercise in Norway has been extinguished.

Norwegian rescue services spokesman Ola Vaage says the Britannia Seaways
is sailing to the Norwegian southwestern port of Bergen on its own steam
and was joined by a Norwegian navy vessel.

He said "all is well on board," with 20 crew and 12 military personnel.

Vaage said Sunday it was not immediately clear what caused the fire, which
started in a container.

He said the storm on Saturday night had abated and sailing conditions were
good. The ship was expected in Bergen later Sunday.

Fire in container.....!

Useally a Job for good, clever and brave men..... But last night it was a stormy weather and rough seas in the North Atlantic and in this dark and cold November evening, the men onboard Britannia Seawas were called upon to not only face a fire in a Container but a nightmare in real life, they should fight a fire in a Container filled with 7000 ltrs of aviation fuel..... and under those weather conditions.....
I can only try to imagine how the Crew must have felt running to fight this fire....
What a courageous Crew....

There has been extensive damage on board DFDS ro / ro ferry Britannia Seways , on Saturday caught fire while it was carrying military equipment along the Norwegian coast . The ship arrived Sunday afternoon to Bergen.

DFDS honors the crew of Britannia Seaways for their heroic efforts during the fire





Britannia Seaways is on Fayard shipyard in Odense to undergo repairs after the fire on 16 / 17th November. During the yard stay the crew was visitted by EVP Henrik Holck from DFDS, he presented them for a gift in the form of a Tissot watch for each crewmember, with Britannia Seaways name engraved on the back .

"It is DFDS thanks for a great effort in a dangerous situation . We sat in the crisis committee on land and was well nervous about the dangerous situation , so we can only imagine how it was aboard close to the flames. With this gift , I hope that we not only have shown them our gratitude , but also gave them an opportunity to think back on it with pride , "says Henrik Holck .

Britannia is soon ready to check out from the yard.
