3F Sailors have at their General Assembly adopted a statement calling on the government to review the DIS Act. The sailors believe that the DIS Act in its current form leads to social dumping.
"The government and parliament must take the law under review and remove the things in the law that removes the Danish trade union movement to organize and negotiate for the seafarers that are employed in the Danish DIS fleet ," says the opinion .

"With the Danish International Register of Shipping , DIS , as a tool , Danish shipping companies systematically replaced skilled educated Danish sailors with cheap underpaid foreign workers. The results of this targeted replacement of Danish seamen does now, according to the Danish Maritime Authority 's own figures, 68 percent of all employees in the DIS register is foreign seafarers " , it adds in the statement.

" Denmark will surely survive with a shipping business , but not as a maritime nation ."
