Ferry with 2000 passengers and 150 crew grounded in the Baltic Sea...

Translated by Google, hope it?s understandable.... From a danish newspaper...

    Saturday afternoon at around 14:00:

The ferry M / S Amorella with some 2,000 passengers on board has run aground off the ?land Islands in the Baltic Sea , according to the Swedish news agency TT. x

The ferry takes according to the Swedish maritime rescue center a little water in, but still have the engine running.

    - We are now investigating how the vessel can get free , says Information Johanna Boijer - Svahnstr?m from the shipping company Viking Line to TT.

All staff in the lower deck is evacuated and a boat is on its way to carry all passengers back to Finland , writes Aftonbladet.se .

    - We get no information, it is fucking bad, says Irina Widberg of 36, which is by ferry , to Aftonbladet .

According to the Swedish media staff shouted through loudspeakers that the boat had suffered a blackout and that that was why they had gone aground.

    - It was black on the boat because the lights went out . I thought that this is not normal, and the staff looks a little busy out . Some families looking a little tension , but otherwise the atmosphere is good , says Irina Widberg .

Rescue Services has not yet decided whether the ship be evacuated . A helicopter , an airplane and a bugseringsb?d is preliminary sent to the area .

The ferry is located near the port of L?ngn?s , and the weather is calm in the area.

In addition to 1945 passengers , there is a crew of 150 men on board.

The pictures are either from my own collection and/or from the archives on the Bangsbo Museum in Frederikshavn in DK and/or from the Danish Maritime Museum in Elsinore, DK. Dates, locations and photographers are unknown factors if they are not specifically mentioned.

    Ferry free of reef/cliff again...

Tonight the ferry came off the cliffs in ?landshavet in Finland and she is now steaming to port in Marieshamn.... SHe is still leaking but her pumps can manage to incoming water so far..... Her passengers and crew are still all onboard and the great big resque-force of helicopters and ships from the swedish and finnsh goverments are called home for the most part of them... There are a couple of units following the ferry to the harbor... The rest of the ships that had come to her aid have resumed their journey knowing that the big resque was avoided this time...

The Viking Amorella was carrying almost 2,000 passengers but the ship operator says no-one was put in danger.
