Dirk is perhaps named by our Dierk????

On Christmas Eve 2013, certainly go down in history as a windy and mild one , where we only very few times have been further away from the snow and frost on the big day than this year.

An extensive and very strong low pressure near Scotland controlling the action throughout Northern and Western Europe , where it is particularly strong winds that generate the many people who travel across the continent today.

The storm has been named by the Germans 'Dirk ' and also in Denmark, we are hit by high winds when the several parts of the country during the night , the creak of the ridge and shaken in the trees.

Most windy it has been in the North Sea. Here you have in Hvide Sande measured an average wind of 21 m / s , corresponding to strong gale while Thybor?n have had gusts of 28 m / s , corresponding to gale force .

Also in Thorsminde and Hvide Sande has 27 m / s had storm gusts - and the same is true in several places , especially in Jutland, where both Bl?vand, Mejrup near Holstebro , Silstrup , Skagen and Hanstholm have passed the 'magic' 24.5 m / s in gusts .

The wind culminates along the west coast of Jutland in the early morning hours, while the major focus point around noon , the major bridges and in particular the Great Belt Bridge .

It is expected gusts in the late morning and around midday to reach gale force , ca. 25 m / s, across the bridge from the south.

According bromyndighederne closes bridge entirely by wind gusts of over 27 m / s - and in all cases must be expected restrictions on so-called high and light vehicles.
The pictures are either from my own collection and/or from the archives on the Bangsbo Museum in Frederikshavn in DK and/or from the Danish Maritime Museum in Elsinore, DK. Dates, locations and photographers are unknown factors if they are not specifically mentioned.
