Laid down at Williamstown Dockyard, Victoria as the Euroa for Australian Government but transferred ownership during construction to William Scott Fell & Co. (later Interstate Steamships). Scott, Fell also managed BHP ships at the time, and this ship continued under charter to BHP, renamed Iron Crown, registered at Sydney. Torpedoed by Japanese submarine I.24, near Gabo Island 4 June 1942.
The vessel sank within minutes, taking thirty-seven of the crew, including her captain, to their deaths. Only five survivors
