Major collision on the Weser, MOL Efficiency struck Splittnes

On the outer Weser near buoy 53/55 off the Columbus Quay boxship MOL
Efficiency collided with bulk carrier Splittnes at 2020 LT Nov 22, reports
vesseltracker.com. Boxship struck bulk carrier, Splittnes suffered hole or
holes, with resulting water ingress. Vessel listed 20 degrees, half of the 18
crew abandoned Splittnes. Bulk carrier was docked at the Columbus Quay,
fire teams started to pump out water with mobile pumps, in order to get a
control over water ingress and avoid capsizing. MOL Efficiency was berthed
in Strom Quay.
Boxship MOL Efficiency IMO 9251365, dwt 63160, built 2003, flag Panama,
manager MOLSHIP Japan.
Self-Discharging Bulk Carrier Splittnes IMO 9101730, dwt 18964, built 1994,
flag Antigua, manager HJH SHIPMANAGEMENT GMBH, Germany.
