17th has come and gone, ship has not moved. This time last year Beckett had already been commissioned.

This is the start of spring tide period through until the 20th. Capt Hoad has been on holiday will endeavour to contact him later for any news

Latest news last night from Capt Hoad he has been ordered to pilot the ship on the 06.12 hrs tide on the 17th plenty of daylight for photies let hope this time everything OK.

Crew travelling over on Sunday 14th, hearing from members of the crew that if the sea trials are successful, LE Joyce will head home the following week.

A commissioning date has been provisionally fixed for late June in Dublin.

News from Capt Hoad last night will be leaving the berth about 30 minutes to high water should be enough light for photies.

Well all after a long delay the vessel finally sailed at 06.10 this morning for further sea trials which expected to take 24 hrs if everything ok the men from the shipyard will be landed to the Lundy Puffin and she will then proceed to Cork.

Back alongside approx 1800 today, just over 12hr sea trial.

Main engine problem resolved however another problem occured and therefore vessel will not sail now unitil the am tide 1st July. Capt Hoad posted a message late yesterday evening did not know myself unable to get photies.

Handover

Handover is now provisionally set for 2nd July, which is 15 days from 17th June, because that's the date of the next sufficiently high tide and to allow the ship to get off the mud to get out.

It really does not seem to be the best spot in the UK to build a shipyard... !

Perhaps it was fine for building smaller ships, but this class seems to be the absolute maximum the yard can manage, and they have overstretched themselves.

They have been building ships at Appledore for a long time and has always had to tackle the low tide period's the present problem's have both been caused by sub-contractor's not the shipyard themselves.The finest cars and any new house always has problems.
