Nice set of pictures there Norman. Some quite big ships as well, what kind of cargoes are they loading or unloading nowadays.?. I was there in 1951 in the Farringay with coal from Partington (Manchester Ship Canal), she was a regular runner in those days. The skipper, Ken Griffin) had a house there. Was this before your time.?

Good morning Alec
The max size for ships at Bideford is 3000 tons d.w and the only cargoes now loaded is Ball and brick clay for the Baltic and Spain . Euroforest used the Port for the export of timber to Germany but this trade has now moved to the Old Power Station Jetty at Yelland. Devon County Council also bring in the occasional cargo of rock salt from Northern Ireland. Recently had the Exe Otter in for change of owners and flag.
