Hi Gareth,
She was a passenger ferry down in Greece called the Aspasia until about this time last year, now employed on the round timber trade from some pretty remote sites on the west coast of Scotland, nightmare to handle in anything more than a puff of wind and deffo more suited to the Medi. Apart from that pays my bills

Hi Ray , indeed and not so far to join as Deptford Creek or Fingringhoe . But guess by the she handles when Winter arrives back to the Sand runs.......... Cheers Gareth

She was ( think that on this photo she is converted for the timber trade with added stantions port and stbd) was on a limited distance and only between mailand and islands close to mainland. Ferries of such kind Ro/Pax doing pretty well between Piraeus central port to close islands like Aegina, Poros, Or between Corfu and Igoumenitsa, or in some locations between central Greece on the East part to Evoia. Very well effected by the wind, slipping all the time port to stbd so, need manouvering skills when operating between Perama-Salamina island an almost a mile distance where more than 20 ferries(PANTOFLES we used to call them in Greece, i.e. Sleepers like design) operating and manouvering almost the same minute to serve loca traffic particularly during the weekends.

Agree with you wholeheartedly about being affected by any wind and the places we run to have ramps to land on that are not much wider than our own ramp but not soft sand to land on if you miss but bloody great big lumps of rock

This is her before the conversion, the wheelhouse is now my 'shed' with a new wheelhouse built on top. Height of timber when fully loaded is 4 mtr high so I cant see the bow when going alongside to discharge.
