Hi Pete - reckon on her way to that small port under the bridge, tributary, Southside of the Humber, struggling here can't remember the name of it, but feel sure these types were built to carry timber there, Leafe&Hawkes were heavily involved in the project Cheers Gareth

yes you are thinking of gainsborough (Beckingham) and all the Hammann ships used to run there with timber.
I only went to sea to go Ashore.

These days when ashore i want to be at Sea.

Heyo Prahm and her 3 sisters were purpose built for carrying timber up to Beckingham wharf opposite Gainsborough and were restricted to approximately 58 metres of length because of the tight bend in the river at Morton. I'm not sure but I think this practice stopped in about 1999 or there abouts and the trade then shifted down river to Neap House next to Grove Wharf.
I've always been pleasantly surprised that these rather small vessels, which after all are no longer than the Hoo boats can still be operated profitably (presumably) in a world that now favours coasters with a much higher capacity and what I imagine are lower freight rates as a result.
